Electoral Roll
If Redland is your spiritual home then sign up to the electoral roll to vote and play your part in the life of the church.
If you attend Redland regularly and think of it as your spiritual home, you are already a member of Redland church. However, you need to be on the Electoral Roll in order to vote on any issues raised at the Annual Church Meeting, including voting for your representatives on the Parochial Church Council (PCC). You also need to be on the roll if you would like to stand for election to the PCC yourself, or to join other church councils such as the Deanery, Diocesan or General Synod. Every 6 years, the Electoral Roll is renewed and this is necessary this year. Everyone needs to complete an application form to join, including people already on the current Electoral Roll.
What is the Electoral Roll?
To apply for the Electoral Roll you must meet all the following conditions:
You must be aged 16 or over (though you can apply in the year you become 16 and your name will be entered once your birth date has passed).
You must be baptized
You must be a ‘lay’ person (which means you are not an ordained member of the clergy).
You must either live in the parish of Redland, or have attended Redland Church regularly for at least 6 months*.
The application form refers to you being a “member of the Church of England”. If you attend Redland regularly and ascribe to our values, you are already a member. But you need to join the electoral roll to be able to vote.
*If you would have attended Redland over the last 6 months, but have been prevented from doing so by illness or another good reason, you can still join the Electoral Roll but please include a note on the form to indicate the reason.
Do I qualify to be on the Roll?
If we have your details already, we will send you an invitation by email to complete the form. If you are new, or if you haven’t received the email, you’ll need to apply online or pick up a paper form from the Welcome Desk at the back of church and return it to the church office.
All applications, whether online or paper, have to be received by midnight on Monday 21st April 2025. You can join the Electoral roll at any time, but if you apply after this date you won’t be eligible to vote at this year’s annual meeting, which is on the 18th May.

The list of names (but no other details of name, address or email address) of people on the electoral roll will be published and available in the church office from the 4th of May.
All information you provide on the application form will be handled securely in line with our Data Privacy Notice. Please also see the notes at the bottom of the application form.
-
You can be on the Electoral Roll of more than one Anglican Church, but you can only serve on the PCC of one Church at a time.
-
While we would discourage people from attending multiple churches as you won’t be able to fully commit to two communities this is possible. If you are a member of another (non-Anglican) church which subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity you can be a member of Redland as well, as long as you live in the parish or have attended Redland regularly for at least 6 months.
